The buildings throughout the town are painted in vibrant colors of orange, pink, and red shades, which gives this town that authentic Mexican charm and appeal found in other cities such as Guanajuato. The city is known for having a flourishing art scene and many art festivals are held in the city year-round. One of the most popular festivals in San Miguel de Allende is the Day of the Dead or also known in Mexico as Dia de los Muertos. The Day of the Dead is held each year during the first week of November.
