Things to Do in Puerto Vallarta Marina
To start with, no visit to Puerto Vallarta is complete without exploring the PV Marina. Located just minutes from the PVR Airport, the Puerto Vallarta Marina is filled with luxury boats and yachts, restaurants, shops, bars, and even a world class golf course. With 5 de Mayo just around the world, many of the local restaurants and bars are expected to have specials to celebrate the holiday on May 5th. Cinco de Mayo (or May 5th in English) commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, the victory over the French army at the Battle of Puebla was a morale boost for the Mexicans. If you’d like to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in PV, head to the PV marina to enjoy some great food and drinks in honor of this important holiday.
Great Restaurants and Bars
The Puerto Vallarta marina has tons of wonderful shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and more. It is a great place to go and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can expect many of the local restaurants to have specials this May 5th in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Colorful decorations of red, white, and green in a nod to the Mexican flag will likely be on display at various establishments in the marina. You can find everything from gourmet restaurants to casual cafes. There are ice cream shops, pizzerias, tacos, sushi, and so much more. In addition to great food, there are also bars if you’d like to enjoy a cold cocktail to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It’s easy to want to celebrate while on a great vacation to Puerto Vallarta, and raising a glass in honor of the Battle of Puebla’s historic victory is a great way to spend a day!
World Class Golf Course
If you love golf, you have to make time to go play the greens at the Marina Vallarta Golf Course. Designed by Joe Finger, the Marina Vallarta golf course is the only golf course located in the urban area of Puerto Vallarta and just minutes from the PVR international airport. The 18 hole golf club was designed more than 25 years ago and contains a mix of tropical plants and native animals to the region along with beautiful views of the Sierra Madre mountains and Banderas Bay. Since some holes are near the waters, the wind can pose an obstacle for some golfers. Also, the Marina Vallarta golf course fairways are narrow and its greens can be slow and difficult to interpret. Make sure to book your tee time in advance so you can check out the beautiful course in person.
Marina Farmers Market
One of the best things to explore in the Puerto Vallarta marina is the farmers market. Held every Thursday evening from 6pm to 10pm during high season, the marina will be filled with vendors selling a variety of fares. Starting in November and lasting through April or May, the Marina farmers market is a great place to stroll with friends as you check out the vendors and their fares. You can enjoy great views of the marina as you peruse the offerings which contain everything from homemade foods, drinks, jewelry, clothing, souvenirs, paintings, and so much more. It’s a great way to support local talent, and one of the most popular farmers markets in Banderas Bay.
